After a period of deflected play earlier in the season, Chelsea began to go into a trajectory of stability. Especially the expensive rookies that the Blues brought back in the summer gradually proved their talent. With the spirit rising, coach Frank Lampard probably did not have much difficulty to butcher Rennes. There were early tickets for the Champions League knockout stages.
After an uplifting season in Ligue 1, Rennes qualified for the Champions League group stage. That achievement clearly exceeded the expectations of both the fans and BHL of this team. Of course, with immaturity and unrated performance, from the moment of the opening, Rennes was questioned a lot about his ability to move forward. Currently, after spending 3 rounds, Rennes has only given himself a small point. Defeats to Sevilla (0-1) and Chelsea (0-3) showed that Rennes has little hope at this ground. At the moment Rennes is not only playing badly in the Champions League but their form in Ligue 1 is not really positive. Specifically, in their last five Ligue 1 appearances they have suffered three defeats. With 18 points from 11 rounds, Rennes has now dropped to 7th in the standings. It is clear that the goal of continuing to play in Europe next season is facing too many challenges.
After the ‘sloppy’ at the start of the season, things gradually went into stability with Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s players have won their last five games in all competitions. More impressively, the Blues did not have to concede four of their five wins and scored a total of 16 goals.
It can be said that Chelsea so quite lucky to fall into a really breathable group. Obviously apart from Sevilla being relatively uncomfortable, Krasnodar or Rennes is too weak for the rest. Things are going very well for the Blues right now. Because after 3 rounds they have given themselves 7 points and topped the rankings. The ticket to go forward is almost firmly in the hands of manager Frank Lampard, maybe they will try harder to keep the first place. In terms of form, Chelsea is playing too well having won all five of their last five appearances. In the Premier League they have just beaten Newcastle (2-0) to extend their winning streak to three. Chelsea have now climbed to third in the table with 18 points from nine rounds. They are only two points behind the top two teams, Tottenham and Liverpool. Looking at the current form, despite having to be a guest, the victory is unlikely to get out of Chelsea’s reach on the upcoming trip.
Chelsea at the moment have been effective in scoring goals and defending achievements. The positive integration of ‘rookies’ such as Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner … help them get this.
It can be seen that the Blues’ coins were ‘talking’. Under Frank Lampard, there is no shortage of depth.
Just beat Rennes, Chelsea will qualify for the 2020/21 Champions League two legs early. This prospect promises to be a reality because the Premier League’s representation is unstoppable at the moment. Chelsea have won all three of their last three Champions League games on French soil. They are capable of turning Rennes into the next ‘victim’.
