Getafe vs Barca Preview: The Coliseum Charm
Barcelona look forward to regaining victory in La Liga when they march to Getafe’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday night. Watch this at 7:00 pm on beIN Sports.
After three games in La Liga this season, Barcelona is currently fifth in the standings with seven points. Getafe, meanwhile, also have seven points as Ronald Koeman’s side but they have played more than one game, placed seventh.
Getafe – not easily defeated
Getafe made an encouraging start to the 2020-21 season. The Capitals team has won seven points from four games and are seventh in the table, just three points behind top-of-the-table Real Madrid. Getafe began the season with a 1–0 win over Osasuna before drawing with Alaves 0-0 a week later. They were able to win again at home to Coliseum Alfonso Perez when they were crushed by Real Betis 3-0. But on the visit of Real Sociedad on 4 October, Getafe suffered a heavy 3–0 defeat. However, a two-week break in favor of the international match series contributed to pushing Bordalas’s team together.

Bordalas, Getafe is always very uncomfortable. Three clean sheets in La Liga this season is testament and it seems that the loss to Sociedad was an accident. Last season, Getafe finished eighth in La Liga, but that seemed to be a consequence of having to play more in the Europa League when squad depth was limited.Getafe reached the last eight of the European second tier competition last season, losing to giants Inter Milan 2–0. Remember, in the 2018–19 season, they finished fifth in La Liga with only 2 points behind fourth place in Valencia’s Champions League.
Now, Getafe is only fighting in La Liga and hope to finish this season in the top six for the European Cup. The new seven deals made by the blue shirt team speak up to their determination. In particular, Marc Cucurella is the most notable, coming from Barcelona for 10 million euros.
The charm of Barcelona
Barcelona will march to Getafe’s Alfonso Perez stadium for the LaLiga sixth round match. Ronald Koeman’s goal in this match will surely be enough to win all three points to improve his current position in the standings.Barcelona started the season with scandals both on and off the pitch, however, they played well in their matches with convincing wins over Villarreal and Celta Vigo before a draw with Sevilla in the previous round.
In the upcoming match, it is likely that Barca’s line-up will have certain changes when the majority of the stars of this team have been worn out in the last international series. However, this is not too worrying because top star Lionel Messi can still start with the first team. Statistics have also shown that El Pulga Getafe’s villain as the 33-year-old superstar has scored 19 goals over this team.

Anyway, seven points from Koeman’s first three official games are encouraging for Barca. Compared to the end of last season when they suffered many shocks, the Catalonian team has now prospered significantly. As a guest of Getafe this weekend, Barca wants a positive result as a springboard for the first El Clasico match of the season on 24 October. The financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Camp Nou ground is pronounced.
In the past, the two teams have met a total of 34 times, Barcelona proved completely superior with 25 wins compared to Getafe’s 3 wins. In addition, the history of head-to-head between the two teams has also shown that Getafe has not been able to win against Barca since 2011.
With superstar Lionel Messi in the squad, the upcoming match is not expected to be too difficult for manager Ronald Koeman to win all three points.
Predicted line-up
Barcelona XI: Stegen, Alba, Umtiti, Piqué, Semedo, Jong, Busquets, Arthur, Griezmann, Messi, Fati
Getafe XI: Soria, Olivera, Dakonam, Etxeita, Nyom, Cucurella, Arambarri, Maksimovic, Jason, Mata, Molina
